The Great Gatsby , a 1925 novel by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, is set during the Jazz Age on Long Island near New York City. The narrative expresess Nick Carraway's interactions with the enigmatic millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's fixation on reuniting with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan.
