Historical and Literary Event of 1660 | The Restoration Period -- englit.in

• The Long English Parliament dissolves on 16 March in 1660, after declaring the legislation convention the parliament formerly invited to King Charles 2 to be the English Monarch. 

• On the birthday of Charles 2, he returns to London from exile in the country of Netherlands to gain English Throne after the Puritan Commonwealth.

• We all are known to George I, who was King of Great Britain and Ireland who was the first monarch of the House of Hanover. 

In addition of him, George's distrust of the Tories aided the passing of power to the Whig Party. Whig dominance have grown to be so great under George that the Tories did not come back to power for another half-century. After the election, the Whig-dominated Parliament has crossed the Septennial Act of 1715, which extended the maximum duration of Parliament to seven years. Thus Whigs already in power could remain in such a position for a greater period of time of the age. 

• In the same year of 1660, the famous English novelist, journalist, merchant, pamphleteer and spy, Daniel Defoe. Who has gifted Robinson Crusoe, which is claimed to be second only to the Bible in its number of translations. 

• The famous Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsma, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. Who is simply known as Rembrandt. He had created a total of about three hundred paintings, three hundred etchings, and two thousand drawings.
