The Classic Studies -- englit.in

The Classical Journal: Volume 2 Begins

As we launch the second volume of the Classical Journal, we reflect on our efforts to create a publication that serves classical teachers in schools and colleges. Our aim has been to balance diverse interests and provide content of both practical and scholarly value.

Highlights from the Past Year:

1. Ann Arbor Classical Conference:

A standout feature was a series of discussions on the value of classical studies in preparing students for medicine and engineering. Notably, professors from these fields overwhelmingly endorsed classics as excellent preparation for their disciplines. These unbiased opinions carry significant weight and may help counter skepticism about the practical value of classical education.

2. Content Diversity:

We've strived to include a mix of pedagogical material and articles with broader literary or historical focus. This approach aims to serve our readers not just as teachers, but as scholars and lifelong learners in the classical field.

Looking Forward:

We now turn to you, our readers, for feedback:

- Does the Journal provide practical value to you?

- How well have we balanced different interests and topics?

- What improvements or changes would you like to see?

Your frank criticism and suggestions are not only welcome but essential in shaping the future of this publication. Please write to us with your thoughts.

Resources for Members:

Thanks to the University of Michigan, reprints of the Ann Arbor Conference papers are available. Each member will receive a copy, offering valuable insights into the interdisciplinary relevance of classical studies.

We remain committed to serving the classical education community and look forward to your continued engagement as we begin this new volume.
